Tell Your Story

Design trends come and go, but our individual stories remain a constant. It’s important to create your visual identity in your interior space. A simple way to accomplish that it to create a collection wall.

Tell Your Story

A collection wall can be as large or small in scale as you like it. It can be in an intimate space or a conspicuous space. A collection wall is a place to pause and remember what brings you joy. There are many ways to construct a collection wall. Generally it creates a focal point, so select an area that has enough room to take in the view.

A simple and effective way to construct a collection wall is to start with standard shelving. These can be random in length. Decorative shelving works nicely and can be found at your local craft store. I recommend they be the same color to create uniformity. Create interest by staggering the shelving on the wall. Different heights and spacing are part of the interest of the space. Laying the shelving on a table or floor before installing helps you to visualize the end result.

Now the fun begins. Using different sized objects, create a theme. Carry the theme throughout your collection. Use candle sticks, bookends, decorative mirrors, framed poetry or family photos. Take a decorative frame and paint it a fun color and hang items within the frame that tie into your theme.

Your collection wall can change with the seasons. Consider it a fluctuating piece of art. Enjoy the process, and if you really want to go professional, have throw pillows crafted that tie in with your theme. Inspiration fabrics are awaiting you in our new collections fresh from the top designers.
