Extra, Extra, READ ALL ABOUT IT! New products have arrived and we’re digging this trendy color pallet. Think clean, timeless, and minimalist. We’re seeing these colors trend across properties from high-rise to garden style, downtown to suburban. The opportunities are endless.
AFB was recently afforded an incredible opportunity to bring happiness to a home owner in need through Rebuilding Together Seattle. Rebuilding Together is an especially inspiring organization and below is a beautiful write-up by Michelle Holst of Leisure Care recounting this most recent project.
On Saturday April 29th, I had the distinct pleasure of leading roughly 18 of Leisure Care’s finest in the home renovation of Pauline Adams, a wonderfully industrious homeowner we were paired with through Rebuilding Together Seattle. We participated in a nationwide event called Spring Rebuilding Day – there were 21 other homes like ours being renovated in King County alone and 1,600 across the states with 30,000 volunteers. I love seeing the impact one group of volunteers can make on a person’s livelihood in a single day, and I can safely say that Pauline’s house was no exception.
We couldn’t have done it without the generous material and labor donations from our partners at American Floors and Blinds, HD Supply, and Abacus Electric. Your staff and materials made a world of difference to Pauline and we cannot thank you enough.
Last Wednesday nearly 1,000 Multifamily professionals gathered at the Meydenbauer Center for WMFHA’s 2017 EdCon with Maintenance Mania. AFB was proud to serve on the planning committee and as an exhibiting sponsor. It was a great event, complete with phenomenal speakers and trainers, the legendary Maintenance Mania competition, and a supplier trade show complete with prizes…lots of prizes! In case you missed out on the fun happening at the AFB booth, check out the photos below. Hint….there was cash and a money cube involved. Congrats to everyone on their hard fought winnings!
*Disclaimer: Cash remaining at the end of the day was presented to WMFHA as a donation towards their scholarship fund.
We love to support our clients, their communities and residents. AFB’s very own Gloria Freeman recently spent an evening at Crystal Springs in Everett, helping ensure their Community Chili Cook-Off was a success. Gloria entered her own secret recipe into the competition and went home with a full belly from taste testing all of the entries. Way to go Crystal Springs for encouraging the true meaning of community!
We congratulate outgoing President, Greg Anderson of Allied Residential, on a term well served. We also welcome Karolina Simmons of Blanton Turner as the incoming 2017 President. Both Greg and Karolina are remarkable individuals and we look forward to continuing our support of them, and IREM, in the months and years to come. Thank you IREM!
The NAIOP Night of the Stars is an annual gala to recognize exceptional developers, contractors and projects for their impact on the community, adaptability, ingenuity and local contributions. AFB is proud to have worked on a number of the nominated projects for … Continue reading →
A huge shout out to IREM 27 and to all the committee members who created Seatown Scrounge, a Scavenger Hunt that had everyone cracking up and begging for a repeat. An even louder shout out to all of our Waldos…thank you for joining team AFB ~ you are all rock stars!
Our troop of Waldos and Wendas may not have taken home a trophy (I know….we were robbed!) but no one can deny that we were the most enthusiastic. Our team was complete with Barbie Wenda, Ken Waldo, Farmer Waldo, Mama Wenda, and Urban Waldo to name a few. Thank you all again for spending your afternoon with us…..hopefully you had as much fun as we did.
Blanketing Boxer’s With Love is a remarkable volunteer group that provides blankets for Boxer rescues throughout the United States. The blankets are distributed to the dogs in foster care and are taken with them to their furever homes. One of our own is a huge Boxer lover and a rescue Mom herself, Shannon O’Day. Shannon brought this cause to our attention and the lovely ladies of our office sprung into action to show their love and support. Below are photos of their progress. We’re proud of the example these ladies are to each of us! Read below for more information and show us your adorable pooch by commenting with a photo!
Most dogs in rescue come from shelter’s where they were found as strays, abandoned by their owner or seized because of neglect or mistreatment. No matter the cause, these dogs are torn from everything they have ever known and these blankets give them a little continuity in their transition to a new home.

This may not fit the standard definition of beauty, but there are stars in our eyes as we behold this beautiful sight! Phase I is in the warehouse and installation crews roll out on Monday.
Burien Town Center
This intergenerational project includes Merrill Gardens at Burien senior housing and market rate apartments in the heart of Burien Town Center. Merrill Gardens is slated to open in late 2016 and the apartments will be completed in 2017. Pillar Properties is partnering with Legacy Partners on this project.
Where has the time gone? So much is going on in the industry and we’re lovin’ it!
Our most recent fun-filled extravaganza took place at Willows Run Golf Complex for the annual IREM Scholarship Golf Tournament. It was day of sunshine and sunburns, fresh air, friendship and prizes. Oh, and golf too! We appreciate all of you who took the time to stop in at the 18th hole with us to enjoy a relaxing chair massage. Our theme this year was “spa day” complete with not only chair massages, but also spa appropriate snacks, beverages, a faux chandelier, and sheers blowing in the wind. Even our company car got a makeover with some oh-so darling headlight eyelashes. We hope you all enjoyed your day on the golf course because we certainly appreciate sponsoring such a worthwhile event.
Thank you everyone….what a wonderful industry to be a part of.
