AFB Floors is considered an Essential Business as defined both by the Governor’s proclamation and by the Department of Homeland Security’s “Essential Critical Infrastructures Workers” guidelines. Specific essential workforce descriptions that apply are as follows:
- Workers who support food, shelter, and social services, and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals.
- Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences.
- Workers to ensure continuity of building functions.
- Construction workers who support the construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance of construction sites and construction projects (including housing construction) for all essential facilities, services and projects included in this document, and for residential construction related to emergency repairs and projects that ensure structural integrity.
We will provide flooring services only for essential apartment unit replacement needs. Displacement, and potentially even homelessness, could occur if these services are not performed to ensure the safety of residents, sanitation of the apartments, and resolution of emergency repair conditions. This is particularly acute for our subsidized low income and affordable housing clients.
In doing so, the health and safety of our employees and subcontractors is paramount. Additional steps we are now implementing include:
- Essential personnel are required to follow all CDC protocols, and meet social distancing and appropriate health and worker protection measures before proceeding to perform any work on company business. If this is not possible we’ve directed them to discontinue work and leave the premises immediately.
- We have restricted the field activities of all non-essential personnel in support of the Governor’s order.
- Capital improvement projects and non-essential installations are postponed until further notice.
- All activities on new construction sites have been halted until further notice.

Dear Valued Customers,
At AFB Floors, the health and well-being of our employees & their families, our customers, vendors and communities is our top priority. As a partner to you and your business, we are closely monitoring and adjusting our operating policies to conform with guidance from local, state, and federal authorities in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Our goal is to ensure we are here to support you now and moving forward with little to no interruption. As such we have implemented the following changes that will impact how we conduct business with our customers.
- For the health and safety of your residents and our installation contractors, we will not be performing occupied unit installations until further notice.
- In order to avoid contact with your site personnel and residents, our installation contractors are being advised to proceed directly to the vacant unit to perform their work. We respectfully request that you assist in coordinating unaccompanied access in advance of their arrival to the extent you are able, as well as secure the units after they’ve completed the installation.
- With the same goal in mind, we have instructed our sales and field support teams to limit any in-person meetings. We will be making virtual contact with you in order to service your needs. We will continue to be available to our customers via phone, email, or as needed. Our service team remains available to assist you from 7:00am-5:00pm PST, Monday-Friday and can be reached at 1-425-255-3893.
Behind the scenes we are following all applicable CDC guidelines which include: requiring sick employees to remain home; implementing remote work options for all sales and office personnel; rearranging office & warehouse workspaces to ensure appropriate social distancing; revising our receiving and load out processes to reduce personal interactions; following strict cleaning protocols to ensure a hygienic work environment; and restricting visitors to our facilities. All measures will remain in place until further notice.
We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust as appropriate. We will be posting policy updates regularly here on our website blog. Please reach out to your sales representative or our service team with any questions and information about any protocols that your property may be implementing, including changes to access hours or key contact information, so we can coordinate accordingly.
While these are challenging times for us all, we are confident that, together, we can adapt to fulfill our social responsibility to help stop the rapid spread of the virus, while minimizing the impact on our businesses.
